How Do I Create A Birthday Holiday?
There are two methods for creating a holiday on an employee's birthday.
The first treats the birthday as an actual "Holiday" in the
system, while the second handles the birthday as an unpaid absence.
Birthday as Holiday
This method utilizes the steps in step #3 of Creating
a Holiday List (under the section labeled Adding
Holidays to a List) and is treated as an actual "Holiday"
in the system. This type of birthday holiday is considered "paid"
and added to the day's total hours.
Birthday as Absence
This method utilizes both the Holiday List and an unpaid Absence Code.
These hours are considered "unpaid" and are
not added to the day's total hours.
Ensure
that the Display Unworked and Holiday
Options for Absence Codes option is enabled in the "System
Settings" section of the main "Admin" tab.
Note: See System Setup
for instructions on enabling this option.
An
Absence Code must be created for use with the Holiday List. Ensure that
the following options are specified:
Select
the "Holiday" option for the Type
of Absence Code.
Select
all options that apply to this Holiday Absence Code, as desired.
See Creating
an Absence Code for detailed instructions on Absence Code setup procedures.
The
created Holiday Absence Code must be attached to the appropriate Holiday
List. When creating a Holiday List for attachment to an Absence Code,
the following exceptions apply.
Ensure
that the Will Holiday Hours be Generated?
option is not selected.
Select
the option for Holiday will create a
Holiday Absence. From the "Select Absence" drop-down
menu, select the Absence Code created for use with this Holiday List.
All other Holiday List setup
steps should be completed, as appropriate.
Note that when creating a Holiday List using
a Holiday Absence Code, all
holidays assigned to the list will appear on the employee's Time Card
in the format of an absence as opposed to an actual Holiday in the system,
and will not be added to the day's total hours. |
