Problems Installing TimeForce for AOL Users

Customers using America Online (AOL) may run into problems when installing Personal Webserver (PWS), Internet Information Services (IIS), or the TimeForce software.

PWS and IIS are both Windows components that allow you to host a website on your local machine.  Since TimeForce is a browser-based program, the ability to host a website is required on the machine that houses the program installation and database.  This allows multiple machines to log into the program via a network connection.

Installing AOL on a machine changes the Internet Browser settings and installs components which may prevent the machine from being able to host a website.  Uninstalling AOL is not a guaranteed fix for this problem.  You may need to install TimeForce on a different machine which has never had AOL installed.

The most important point to remember is that the Self Install version of TimeForce does not require an Internet connection.  The program must be configured to host a website (by installing either PWS or IIS), but after the installation is complete all communication between workstations takes place over your network connection, not an Internet connection.

You may not encounter problems with the installation, even if you are using AOL.  If this is the case, you still may not be able to use the TimeForce shortcut that the installation places on your Desktop or Windows Start Menu.  Clicking on this icon will most likely bring you to an AOL login screen.  Instead, open Internet Explorer and go to the following address:

http://localhost/qqest/login/login.asp

When the TimeForce login screen appears go into the "Favorites" menu at the top of the screen and select "Add to Favorites."  Once this is done, you will log into TimeForce by clicking on "Qqest Time and Attendance Systems" in your Favorites menu.
